In this course we will cover four units:

Unit 1
Photography / The History

Unit 2
Studio Techniques

Unit 3
Digital Techniques

Unit 4
Concept and Design
(Modern Photography and
Photographers)

Course outline

This course focuses on studio activities in photography. Students will acquire skills and knowledge in operation of the camera, black and white photography, developing and printing, digital imaging and ADOBE Photoshop for retouching and enhancing of photographs. Students will create photographic art works that explore a wide range of subject matter, and will evaluate art works, providing grounds for their aesthetic judgments. They will also examine historical and cultural contexts of Western photographic art (including Canadian art) and photography from various cultures. Activities fees for art kits will be collected for the course.

Plagiarism: Using other people’s ideas or words in your work is not permitted, unless you acknowledge them properly. (Refer to the HHS style guide). The penalty for plagiarism is severe and will result in a ZERO. This applies to all assignments in all courses.
